New Cat® 6020B Hydraulic Mining Shovel Aiming to Shake Up the Status Quo

Cat® 6020B Hydraulic Mining Shovel Introduced at Bauma 2013

At the Bauma International Trade Fair in Munich, Germany, Caterpillar introduced the latest addition to our hydraulic mining shovel line-up, the 6020B. From April 15-21, thousands of Bauma visitors made their way to the 6020B -- the largest of the Cat machines on display in Munich -- to get an early glimpse of this exciting, next generation Cat hydraulic mining shovel.

A brand new, clean-sheet design driven by voice-of-customer input, the 6020B aims to shake-up the status quo in the 176 ton (160 tonne) hydraulic mining shovel size class upon its commercial launch in first quarter of 2015. Its single-engine design and modular construction, coupled with unique key differentiators, meets the simplicity customers in this size-class desire, but with value-enhancing features that will set it apart.

Some of the game-changing value the 6020B will offer includes a safety enhancing state-of-the-art operator's cab with class-leading visibility, superior serviceability with a unique walk-through power module, industry-leading efficiency with dedicated pump flow allocation technology, and reduced field assembly time via its modular design.

The 6020B is ideally sized to pair with the popular Cat 777 series off-highway truck, providing 4-5 pass match capability for an optimized loading and hauling solution.
